27 87 Perfumes - flâneur

“flâneur,” the new fragrance from 27 87, celebrates a lost world of thought: the extraordinary is found in the utterly ordinary, in the seemingly unspectacular. In a world defined by speed and sensationalism, founder Romy invites us to discover a world beyond superlatives and ambitions, and to seek inspiration in the grace of the everyday.

Imagine wandering aimlessly, discovering the beauty of the everyday. With this image in mind, Romy wanted to create a modern and visionary fragrance, in keeping with the current zeitgeist, yet with a touch of melancholy. A green and subtly bitter absinthe note contrasts with the warmth of cashmere wood, linden blossom, and almond blossom. Combined with fresh bergamot and elegant cedarwood on a base of star anise, dry amber, and vetiver, this results in a romantic and subtle fragrance that celebrates both a sense of groundedness and the exoticism of everyday moments.

“flâneur” is the second fragrance in the Go line; a line of perfumes that aims to inspire discovery and travel and embodies the longing for exploration and faraway places.

The traditional flâneur
The flâneur is a traditional concept of the affluent French bourgeoisie and generally refers to a figure who strolls (flâneurs) through the streets and arcades of anonymous metropolises. Often depicted in contemporary literature and graphic art as a man in a tailcoat with a top hat, walking stick, and pipe, the flâneur wanders, drifts along, and goes with the flow. His gift lies in the observation and intellectual reflection of even the smallest things and events. He considers the world in general and the life around him in particular. If we transfer this perspective to our present day, we find that the flâneur of 27 87 represents much more than a single person, but rather offers a unique view of the world by sensitively opening himself to the everyday and thus perceiving details and seemingly lost spaces with his trained eye, capturing them with all his senses.

absinthe
Open to even the most exotic aspects of Barcelona, Romy stumbled upon a seemingly unassuming bar in the Raval district while strolling through the city. Upon entering, she discovered a new and authentic facet of her city. She found not only Barcelona's oldest bar, but also an absinthe bar frequented by the who's who of the 20th-century art world. Unchanged in its location since 1820, this bar hosted world-famous artists such as Ernest Hemingway, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso, who found inspiration there. Absinthe is known as the favorite drink of the bohemian set and, due to its high thujone content, was not only considered hazardous to health but also banned almost everywhere else in the world during the last century. Spain is one of the few countries where absinthe can still be enjoyed today, and the bar Romy discovered in Barcelona is the oldest absinthe bar in the world. As a tribute, she therefore placed this unusual fragrance note at the center of her latest fragrance, "flâneur".
