The story of DIPTYQUE began at 34 Boulevard St-Germain in Paris, with three friends driven by the same creative passion. Christiane Gautrot, interior designer, Desmond Knox-Leet, painter, and Yves Coueslant, theater director and set designer. Initially, they designed fabrics and wallpapers for Liberty and Sanderson when they joined forces in 1961 and decided to open a shop at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain to showcase their fabric designs.
