Your Diptyque candle is an exceptional artisanal creation and deserves the utmost care. Here are some tips to optimize its lifespan and ensure safe use.
Preparing the Space
- Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
- Protect delicate materials such as wood or marble with a coaster or tray.
- Keep candles away from flammable materials.
- Store candles out of reach of children and pets.
Lighting the Candle
- We recommend lighting your candle with a match to avoid burns.
- When lighting for the first time, make sure to let the candle burn until an even layer of liquid wax has formed (approximately 4 hours, depending on the fragrance). This prevents tunneling of the wax and allows the wick to properly absorb the wax, ensuring even burning. Wicks may produce a small amount of smoke when first lit.
While Burning
- After the first lighting, do not let the candle burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Do not move a burning candle or one that is still hot but not burning.
- Keep it away from drafts.
- Leave at least 10 cm of space between two candles.
After Each Use
- Extinguish the flame: Use a candle snuffer to avoid splashes of hot wax.
- Re-center the wick as soon as the candle is extinguished.
- Trim the wick before re-lighting your candle with a wick trimmer (ideal length: 3 to 5 mm) to avoid fire hazards.
Final Note
- Stop using your candle once only 5 mm of wax remains or the metal wick clip becomes visible.
Care & Storage
- We recommend ventilating the room after burning a candle.
- Allow the wax to cool completely before moving your candle.
- Store it in a dry, temperate place (15 °C–25 °C / 59 °F–77 °F), protected from direct sunlight, to avoid discoloration, pigment changes, or wax detachment."
