This lotion reveals many facets. With its delicate milky texture, it rests like a whisper on the skin, like a gentle murmur. In antiquity, people not only perfumed their skin but also their hair with fragrant oils. The oils helped preserve the full intensity of the fragrance notes and combined with the smoky nuances with which the fabrics were treated. Later in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, perfume balls, musk apples, and pomanders came into vogue, along with finely chiseled perfume dispensers. In addition, there was a wealth of salves and elixirs… Around all these fragrance-spreading substances, fixed rituals and noble objects developed over time.

In its exploration of the language of perfume, the house once again takes innovative sensory paths and expands its own palette with the “Perfume Gestures,” a combination of different intensities and surprising textures. L’Ombre dans l’Eau, Do Son, Philosykos, and Eau Rose are presented as balm, gel, oil, and foam, developing a fragrance strength equivalent to that of an eau de toilette and lasting for many hours.
The creation of these sensory fragrances is extremely complex. No two are alike, as each has its own texture to unfold individually. In the selection of ingredients and their dosage, DIPTYQUE’s entire savoir-faire is employed to achieve a perfect balance. Substance becomes fragrance, fragrance becomes substance.
