The story of DIPTYQUE began at 34 Boulevard St-Germain in Paris, with three friends driven by the same creative passion: Christiane Gautrot, interior designer; Desmond Knox-Leet, painter; and Yves Coueslant, theater director and set designer. They initially designed fabrics and wallpapers for Liberty and Sanderson when they joined forces in 1961 and decided to open a shop at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain to showcase their fabric designs.
