At the heart of Escentric 02 is the elusive power of the nature-identical Ambroxan (13.5%), a sensual amber molecule with an almost mineral-like softness, along with the aphrodisiac notes of green jasmine bud and a sparkling ‘gin and tonic’ accord, a touch of Almdudler and ‘that particular smell you get when you unwrap a new Apple laptop.’
Ambroxan is a crystal-chemical structure identical to Ambrox derived from ambergris. Ambergris has been one of perfumery’s most prized ingredients for centuries. It is a somewhat mysterious substance ejected by the sperm whale which only attains its fine scent after long maturation in the ocean.
Ambergris is rarely found these days, and the ‘amber’ in modern perfumery is a laboratory-created equivalent of some of the aroma-molecules that make up its scent. By far the finest of these molecules is the nature-identical Ambroxan.
