“The story of the Sacred Band made me think of the 300 Spartans: brothers in arms, full of courage and desire. I wanted to capture this mix of metal and skin. A light aldehyde note indicates the shine of the armor at dusk, as the mountains give off the heat of the day. Surrounded by this, lavender and artemisia bring the scent of wild herbs, brightened by a hint of bergamot. Then comes the warmth: deep musks, creamy sandalwood, and suave, ambered tonka bean for a signature that is strong, heroic, and particularly carnal. For me, ‘La Nuit des 300’ (The Night of the 300) is both a remembrance of battle and a hymn to desire.” – Maurice Roucel
