“My initial inspiration for this perfume came from a wonderful trip to Wadi Darbat in southern Oman. A truly special place in the Middle East, as all of India’s monsoons eventually wind their way through this region. Instead of the aridity and desert one might expect, this area is fertile and botanically incredibly diverse: wide rivers, large trees, and a particular treasure of this region, the Sidar tree, or Syrian Christ’s thorn. The Sidar tree has nothing in common with the cedar. It’s an ancient tree species belonging to the genus Ziziphus, bearing beautiful red fruit and magnificent blossoms. Thanks to these blossoms, the local bees produce the richest, most exclusive, and most distinctive honey imaginable. It’s very well-known in Yemen as ‘Sidr Honey.’ I had the opportunity to spend a few days there with a botanist and frankincense farmer. I returned from this trip with the inspiration for Nectar. I created a perfume that captures the different facets of Sidar honey and its natural environment.” – Pierre Guéros
