The truth is... BAIE 19 should have been called Water 19. Not that it smells of nothing (even though nothing smells of nothing), but it has this crisp, wet, drenched effect that water gives to the earth after the rain...
And by the way, there's a word for that: Petrichor. It's that magical feeling of heavy rain after a long dry spell, and it's one of the most beautiful olfactory phenomena in nature.
There are many reasons for this, including ozone in the air, negative ions, but above all, the release of oil secretions from certain plants that have accumulated after a long dry period. That's what BAIE 19 is all about: dry juniper berries, patchouli, green leaves... all drenched in a beautiful, luminous, magnetic rain after a long drought. And the joy that comes with it...
Le Labo was born in Grasse, the perfume capital on the Côte d'Azur. It grew up in New York, the city where we opened our first laboratory on Elizabeth Street in Nolita in February 2006.
