Maison Crivelli - Seriously Committed
When Thibaud visited vetiver and patchouli plantations in Indonesia, he met producers and became aware of the need to promote sustainable cultivation methods for perfume raw materials.
These are promoted in five steps:
- maintaining consistent production, as it is always threatened by displacement from easier-to-cultivate plants (mainly palm oil).
- limiting soil erosion.
- avoiding the use of chemical fertilisers.
- promoting permaculture and encouraging growers to limit slash-and-burn farming, which leads to deforestation.
- maintaining a high level of quality.
This approach led Maison Crivelli to support the organisation Cœur de Forêt (Heart of the Forest) and participate in the sustainable cultivation of patchouli in Indonesia. With every purchase of a 30ml or 100ml fragrance, Maison Crivelli finances one or three patchouli cuttings, respectively.
