Maison Crivelli - Seriously Committed
When Thibaud visited vetiver and patchouli plantations in Indonesia, he met producers and became aware of the need to promote sustainable farming methods for perfume raw materials.
These are promoted in five steps:
- maintain consistent production, as it is always at risk of being displaced by easier-to-grow crops (mainly palm oil).
- limit soil erosion.
- avoid the use of chemical fertilizers.
- promote permaculture and encourage growers to limit slash-and-burn practices that lead to deforestation.
- maintain a high level of quality.
This approach led Maison Crivelli to support the Cœur de Forêt (Heart of the Forest) organization and participate in the sustainable cultivation of patchouli in Indonesia. With each purchase of a 30ml or 100ml fragrance, Maison Crivelli finances one or three patchouli cuttings, respectively.
