The "Marschallin" fragrance by Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella is a bouquet of oriental spicy and woody notes. The exclusive formula dates back to the 19th century, with a very spicy mace top note that accompanies the dry and aromatic woody notes of the heart and base. The original formula of the fragrance, which was once created as a perfumed "poudre" (powder), was created by a noble Frenchwoman, the Countess d'Aumont, wife of a French marshal, who used this fragrance to perfume her gloves. It is said that because of this interest in alchemy, she was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. The "Bouquet à la Maréchale" was very fashionable at the end of the 19th century, so much so that Tomasi di Lampedusa had his main character Angelica wear it in the grand ballet of Salina in his literary masterpiece Il Gattopardo... "from Angelica Spei's décolletage escaped the scent of the Bouquet à la Maréchale..."
