Trudon - Cire - Scented Candle
The Cire scented candle is the fragrant embodiment of the manufactory itself: symbolically, it combines the scents of warm wax and perfumes during the production process. A reinterpretation of Trudon's core values – time-honored savoir-faire and dedication to perfection – the scented candle reveals a unique perfume: hidden behind the amber-colored glass is a beeswax absolute.
Bees and beeswax have always been at the heart of the manufactory's history: since the 17th century, Trudon's motto has been "Deo regique laborant", which translates to: "They (the bees) work for God and the king."
The story of Trudon
In 1643, a merchant named Trudon arrived in Paris. Through a favorable marriage, he became the owner of a shop on the famous Rue Saint Honoré in the Saint Roch district. Besides groceries and colonial goods, he sold candles for home use as well as candles for Mass. Over time, he refined and perfected his candle-making skills and soon produced only candles of the highest quality.
Shortly before the Sun King, Louis XIV, ascended the throne of France, the master craftsman founded a small manufactory bearing his name, thus laying the foundation for a long tradition. His son Jacques continued his father's craft with the same passion and pursuit of perfect quality. In 1687, his exceptional skills led to his summons to the court of Versailles, where he became a purveyor to the king. In 1719, Maison Trudon was officially appointed the Royal Wax Manufactory. The wax and candle business flourished, and the company continued to operate steadily for centuries.
Maison Trudon is today the oldest French manufacturer and has already created candles of the highest quality for great houses such as Hermès, Guerlain and Dior, always mindful of the traditions of the House of Trudon.
