Trudon - Joséphine - scented candle
Trudon invites us for a walk through the famous gardens of the Château de Malmaison.
The soft light of dawn spills over the flowerbeds. A light shadow flits through the roses, camellias, and irises. With her green thumb, Joséphine awakens the garden's dazzling fragrances for her imperial destiny.
Joséphine de Beauhernais acquired the Château de Malmaison in 1799 while her husband, Napoleon Bonaparte, was away fighting in the Egyptian campaign. She spent a fortune renovating the château, which later became the headquarters of the French government. Her love of flowers, plants, and animals led her to create one of the most magnificent gardens in Europe. Her greatest wish was to create "the most beautiful and interesting garden in Europe, an example of good horticulture."

Maison Trudon guards the secret to making its unique scented candles: a wax blend of plant-based ingredients creates a special mixture that guarantees perfect fragrance release and soot-free burning. The candles are natural and completely pure, which is why their burn time of 50 to 70 hours far exceeds that of other candles. Each fragrance evokes a historical moment in French history, shedding light on these legends.

The story of Trudon
In 1643, a merchant named Trudon arrived in Paris. Through a favorable marriage, he became the owner of a shop on the famous Rue Saint Honoré in the Saint Roch district. Besides groceries and colonial goods, he sold candles for home use as well as candles for Mass. Over time, he refined and perfected his candle-making skills and soon produced only candles of the highest quality.
Shortly before the Sun King, Louis XIV, ascended the throne of France, the master craftsman founded a small manufactory bearing his name, thus laying the foundation for a long tradition. His son Jacques continued his father's craft with the same passion and pursuit of perfect quality. In 1687, his exceptional skills led to his summons to the court of Versailles, where he became a purveyor to the king. In 1719, Maison Trudon was officially appointed the Royal Wax Manufactory. The wax and candle business flourished, and the company continued to operate steadily for centuries.
Maison Trudon is today the oldest French manufacturer and has already created candles of the highest quality for great houses such as Hermès, Guerlain and Dior, always mindful of the traditions of the House of Trudon.
