Trudon - Les Belles Matières - Maduraï - scented candle

The splendor of Indian jasmine.
The Duke of Tuscany first brought jasmine from India in 1690, a flower originally from Arabia. Whether fresh or dried, it plays an important role in Indian myths, legends, and daily rituals. Sometimes jasminum sambac perfumes loose tea, other times it is woven into garlands. In Hindu temples, the fragrant blossom is even offered as a sacrifice in spiritual veneration.

Les Belles Matières
Les Belles Matières by Trudon: pure and concentrated in their form, they present a trio of unique candles. The delicate perfumes, composed as a botanical triptych, orchestrate fruity, woody, and floral scents: Reggio is filled with mandarin orange from Calabria; Tadine flirts with sandalwood from New Caledonia, while Maduraï blossoms with Indian jasmine.

Like a geographical odyssey, the collection travels back to the origins of precious perfumes: it delves into the great moments of botanical discoveries and reveals the creation of great olfactory adventures.

Like the call of distant lands, the feeling of the absolute permeates "Les Belles Matières." The gatekeeper of these secret discoveries is the midnight-blue tinted glass that encases the ingenious essences. The three fragrance absolutes speak a modern language – "Les Belles Matières," let there be matter!

The story of Trudon
In 1643, a merchant named Trudon arrived in Paris. Through a favorable marriage, he became the owner of a shop on the famous Rue Saint Honoré in the Saint Roch district. Besides groceries and colonial goods, he sold candles for home use as well as candles for Mass. Over time, he refined and perfected his candle-making skills and soon produced only candles of the highest quality.

Shortly before the Sun King, Louis XIV, ascended the throne of France, the master craftsman founded a small manufactory bearing his name, thus laying the foundation for a long tradition. His son Jacques continued his father's craft with the same passion and pursuit of perfect quality. In 1687, his exceptional skills led to his summons to the court of Versailles, where he became a purveyor to the king. In 1719, Maison Trudon was officially appointed the Royal Wax Manufactory. The wax and candle business flourished, and the company continued to operate steadily for centuries.

Maison Trudon is today the oldest French manufacturer and has already created candles of the highest quality for great houses such as Hermès, Guerlain and Dior, always mindful of the traditions of the House of Trudon.
