Trudon - Versailles - Diffuser
Versailles and Trudon have shared a history for over three centuries. As candle makers to royal families until the French Revolution, Trudon, with its candles produced in the royal manufactory near Paris, helped create glorious and magical moments at the Palace of Versailles. Because of this historical connection, Versailles is naturally the namesake of the new Trudon collection, which includes four candle sizes and a diffuser whose green and floral fragrances are inspired by the legendary gardens.
Avenues, groves, and verdant theaters invite relaxation, poetry, and, of course, festivities. These moments were immortalized in engravings, elements of which now adorn the display cases of the Versailles collection. Four hundred years after the first plantings in the park of Versailles, Trudon, guardian of centuries-old expertise, and the city of Versailles, cradle of French art, are reviving these historical connections.
The Versailles collection, already an icon with its frozen azure bottle and floral, refreshing fragrance, captures an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and whimsical: a garden designed from the ground up to entertain and enchant a king, his court, and his friends. Versailles, a quintessential scent of French gardens in spring.
The story of Trudon
In 1643, a merchant named Trudon arrived in Paris. Through a favorable marriage, he became the owner of a shop on the famous Rue Saint Honoré in the Saint Roch district. Besides groceries and colonial goods, he sold candles for home use as well as candles for Mass. Over time, he refined and perfected his candle-making skills and soon produced only candles of the highest quality.
Shortly before the Sun King, Louis XIV, ascended the throne of France, the master craftsman founded a small manufactory bearing his name, thus laying the foundation for a long tradition. His son Jacques continued his father's craft with the same passion and pursuit of perfect quality. In 1687, his exceptional skills led to his summons to the court of Versailles, where he became a purveyor to the king. In 1719, Maison Trudon was officially appointed the Royal Wax Manufactory. The wax and candle business flourished, and the company continued to operate steadily for centuries.
Maison Trudon is today the oldest French manufacturer and has already created candles of the highest quality for great houses such as Hermès, Guerlain and Dior, always mindful of the traditions of the House of Trudon.
